Local Homemade Canned Apple Sauce

Homemade canned apple sauce made from local apples, is an excellent choice to rely on when you are out of fresh fruit! These jars have been heat sealed, and therefore they keep for up to a year or more. Did you know you can use apple sauce in baking? To substitute applesauce for oil, use a 1:1 ratio of applesauce to replace oil. If your recipe calls for 1/4 cup oil, just replace that with 1/4 cup with applesauce instead. This makes for very moist muffins or loafs. Our apple sauce is sweetened, so you might want to reduce the sugar slightly. Cheese and fruit are a great combination.
